My name is Celina and I love fiction, specifically fantasy and horror, over anything else. Growing up, as a baby my parents were the type to take me to the movies to see horror movies, they felt it was good include me in that kind of content early on, so I wouldn’t be scared later on in life, and as a result I’ve grown up to be a big horror fan. I was the type of baby to sit quietly in the theatre and pay attention to the movie, while other babies cried, I sat in my seat eating my applesauce and watched. Other kids were watching Barney and Disney religiously, I was into Dracula and Frankenstein. I have always loved horror and magical storytelling over any other kind of fiction because of this kind of upbringing. I also grew up in a family that promoted reading books over anything else. I was always imaginative due to the number of books that were read to me and I have read myself throughout my life. From Harry Potter to Lord of The Rings, I’ve always read about magical realms and heroes; so that is the type of fiction I like to write about.
I used to write poetry as a teenager. I found it to be a comforting outlet to write short poems and prose, as I got older, I stemmed away from my poetry however and focused instead on trying to create characters for stories. I’ve tried to form stories where there was a beginning a middle and an end, the problem was my stories never ended coherently, for example I’ve written a story where the world was overrun by nature in some mass destructive way. It changed society and I tried to give the characters individual stories based on that, but it was very hard at the time to write an end of sorts. These stories that I’ve written and edited have endings in their own way and I feel I have learned to give my characters backgrounds and lives to make the story over all better. I learned to give my characters a whole world by writing these two separate pieces that are entwined in their own way. I think my history with writing and reading fiction has made it easier to create these pieces and I am very proud of them.
